At the new YWCA Community Outreach Center, we provide a place of hope and empowerment through a variety of free programs and services. Here, women and families can access life-changing resources, including legal assistance, domestic violence support, counseling, and personal development services – all in one convenient location. To reach a member of our staff, please contact WEC@ywca-br.org, and one of our experienced counselors will be in touch.
More than just a resource hub, the YWCA Empowerment Center is specifically designed for events, educational sessions, and group activities. We offer an array of free classes conducted by talented, creative, and inspirational leaders in arts, dance, fitness, and enrichment. Our goal is to encourage personal growth, healing, and community connections.Â

This framework is a testament to the power of collaboration. By co-locating with the Power Coalition, we’re blending arts and policy to educate and serve the Baton Rouge community. Through workshops, exhibitions, and public mobilization projects, we’re creating a space where art meets women and children, providing the opportunity to express, connect with others, and contribute to meaningful change in their communities.
The arts program is integrated into the comprehensive support network provided at the Empowerment Center, from behavioral health services to housing and legal assistance. Creative professionals will use projects like participatory art creation grounded in community traditions and storytelling initiatives to foster emotional healing and community connection. This approach empowers our clients and others to see themselves as agents of change while supporting their mental and emotional well-being.
